Drawing up and implementation of political projects of different levels, dimensions and types has become a fashionable political practice in recent decades, both in Russian and foreign policy. Actors of political design are constantly generating new projects for the reconstruction of a society and a state as a whole, as well as their individual institutions. Some of these projects are endorsed and financed and begin to be actively implemented, other projects remain at a developing stage. At the same time, the projects that have received a chance to introduce social and political practices into the current system, and projects that have been rejected by the public and state institutions for a number of reasons, constitute a system of a certain political outlook based on the interests of specific power entities. Therefore, the identification of types of political projects, their grouping and systematization will allow not only theoretically to streamline the project approach of policy interpretation, but also to explore in more detail the key directions of practical policy in certain. Attempts to typologize political projects however face the problems of identifying the criteria of project types. Every specialist working within the framework of the project approach of policy interpretation develops, tests and applies his own criteria for identification of types of political projects. The article systematizes them, explains the advantages and disadvantages of each of the typological approaches.
