Youth Political Absenteeism: Protest Voting as an Overcoming Factor (the Case of 2015 Irkutsk Region Governor Elections)

Abstract
Protest voting as one of the youth absenteeism overcoming factors is concerned with in the paper (the case of 2015 Irkutsk Region governor elections). The authors believe absenteeism to be a widely spread negative phenomenon of people’s absence from elections, which undermines proper functioning of the political system and voting and referendum system as well. The analysis of pilot testing taken right after the elections through local youth questioning is given.
