Russian-Chinese Cross-Cultural Dialogue (CulturalLinguistic Aspects): A Retrospective Analysis of the Issue

Abstract
The article examines the role of linguistic diplomacy in Russo-Chinese relations during the 18th and 20th centuries. The relevance of the study is determined by the need to analyze historical examples of soft power application in the context of contemporary challenges to Eurasian integration. The evolution of institutional models of linguistic interaction is explored through the prism of cultural hegemony theory. Archival material on the functions of Orthodox missions as hybrid institutions of cultural-political influence is introduced into scholarly discourse for the first time. Through a comparative analysis of imperial and Soviet periods, patterns in the use of linguistic competencies to strengthen bilateral strategic partnership are revealed. The study demonstrates that the synthesis of missionary diplomacy and academic Sinology created a unique mechanism for transmitting Russian values within the Asian geopolitical space. The research findings contribute to the methodology of public diplomacy studies, providing a foundation for assessing the effectiveness of language programs in international relations.
