Democratic Institutions in Discussions Political Science Community

Abstract
The authors demonstrate how institutional and neo-institutional approaches were introduced into political science discourse. It is noted that the expansion of the concept of “institution” occurred due to the emergence of new practices and challenges to political reality. Politics are constantly becoming more complex. Classifications of political institutions are given. A special place is given to the definition of democratic institutions and their criteria in modern Russian politics. As a conclusion, it is noted that the prerogative of creating functional democratic institutions remains with the political system. It can create favorable conditions for their development. The filling of the political system with institutions is associated with the state itself and the type of political regime dominant in it.
