L. Wittgenstein and Russian Philosophers: Between Knowledge and Faith

Author(s)
S. A. Azarenko
Abstract
The article proves that thinkers of any orientation, German or Russian, rational or irrational, are always between faith and knowledge – and this means being on both sides, both here and there, containing, on the one hand, faith, and on the other – knowledge. It seems to us that this circumstance is presence in the spiritual. The world is complex, it is made up of different facets, and therefore it is multifaceted. Separating faith from knowledge, religion from philosophy is a superficial separation, since the world is interconnected. The very presence of “between” turns out to be constitutive for the generation of meanings around faith and knowledge or religion and philosophy. The emphasis on “between” is the novelty of our approach. This allows us to consider mystical experience in a non-trivial way in a world where mysticism is associated with the depth of our Self, which is in contact with the depth of the universe. By stating the connection between myth and logos, we come to the conclusion that a common feature of human cultures is the coexistence of verbally discrete languages and iconic ones. Therefore we come to the “myth-logos-one” scheme.
