Covid-19 and Religious Discourses of the Medical Conspiracy Theory

Author(s)
A. M. Prilutskii
Abstract

The article is devoted to the influence of Covid-19 on the medical conspiracy theory. The author showed that the religious version of the medical conspiracy theory is a product of mythology. The epistemic roots of medical conspiracy theories stem from the same archetypes of archaic worldviews that took radical forms during the plague and cholera riots. The article also discusses basic components of a modern medical conspiracy myth. These are ideological mythologemes about an exaggerated danger, artificial origin of the infection, concealing the danger and the true goals of vaccination, a mythological “mark of the antichrist”, “deliberate contamination under the pretext of vaccination and diagnosis”, “establishing a world government and preparing for Antichrist to take power ". Main mythologemes and mythotheologemes have been quoted.
