The Russian Arctic Policy in Program Documents

Abstract

The increasing role of the Arctic in the XXI century and its geopolitical significance in world politics directly affects the interests of Russia and its national security. The article discusses the formation of the modern Russian policy in the Arctic. The presence of Russia in the Arctic region has been considered from the historical point of view. Main program documents defining Russian Arctic policy have been analyzed. The author identified the goals of the Russian presence in the Arctic region at the current stage. Difficulties of Russian Arctic policy implementation have been investigated.
