Stereotypes about Russia as Transformation Factors of the Political Image of the Modern Russian State

Author(s)
V. A. Matvienko
Abstract

The study is aimed at analyzing the most common stereotypes about Russia and Russians and their influence on the political image of the Russian state at the current stage of its development. A number of key tasks have been formulated by the author to achieve the goal set in this article. To solve them, the political image of the Russian state, which has been a focus of attention for representatives of various ideological and social groups, has been studied first of all. The article discusses the algorithm of stereotyping, as well as the factors affecting their modifications. The author noted that neighboring states have the most complete and meaningful picture of their border country devoid of any stereotypes. The image of the modern Russian state in the world politics is still highly stereotyped. It lacks specificity and does not always reflect the reality. The article highlights the current key points regarding improving the image of Russia in the global political arena through targeted work with negative stereotypes.
