The article reveals life and creative work of B. S. Shostakovich, Professor of the Irkutsk University, reputed Siberian Historian of Slavic and Polish studies, the researcher of the Central and Southeast Europe countries history and history of the international relations. His investigations are focused on the history of the Polish deportees to Siberia in XIX century. More than 200 scientific publications are dedicated to it.
