Citizen Participation in the Yaroslavl Area: the Perception of Non-profit Organizations

Abstract

Civic participation in today’s Russian Federation is concerned with in the paper. Nowadays, the main actors of civic participation and civic engagement in general are non-profit organizations. There is a wide range of areas and forms in which non-profit organizations structure civil position. These include the activities of various clubs, charity funds, professional associations, religious organizations and specifically aimed organizations, political organizations and others. To assess the state of civil society and the level of development of certain forms of civic engagement in the Yaroslavl region the results of a survey conducted in February 2016 among the representatives of non-governmental and non-profit organizations operating in the region are presented. The authors estimate the phenomenon of development of volunteering, philanthropy, and public control.
