Protest in the Russian Federation Regions: Approaches to the Regions Classification

Abstract

The article offers several classifications of Russian regions, based on survey of experts, which was carried out to examine the protest situation. The first classification covers three factors: the level of protest activity, the interaction of protest groups with the authorities, the effectiveness of protests. The second classification is grounded on assessments of dynamics of protest activity over the previous two years and next two years.
