The paper considers the following aspects: the background (commemorative dates of the Russian historian A. P. Shchapov) and the history of All-Russian Shchapov Scientific Conference, composition of its hosts and participants, its agenda, publications of Shchapov Scientific Conference, the press. The author raises the question of restoring the name of  A. P. Shchapov in Irkutsk everyday life, Irkutsk State University (in 1861 he wrote to Alexander II about the necessity to establish one), the Faculty of History and the Faculty of Philology (he raised the question of the need to set up History-Philology Faculty at the University in the 1875 paper “What faculties are urgent in the Siberian University”).
