Author(s)

Abstract
The article presents correlation of ethical, legal and socio-political aspects in the conflict between Orthodox activists and representatives of the Novosibirsk metropole on the one hand and the authors of «Tannhäuser» opera (the Novosibirsk State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre) on the other. Particular attention is paid to possibilities and limitations of Church “inclusion” in secular space of culture and art. With regard to court decision and public discussion accompanying the resonance situation, the authors identify the causes and consequences of the conflict. «The Case of Tannhäuser» showed a high level of conflictogenity of modern Russian society when sacred and institutional conceptions of the role of Church as a social institution in the postmodern conditions get in touch with each other.
