Abstract
The article attempts to analyze a controversial issue in the Russian Church history: Renovationism / Old Believers - is it an antithesis or a uniting paradigm? Moreover, the article contributes to our theoretical understanding of what did Russian Orthodox Renovationism and Old Believers represent in their historical development - religious modernism or religious fundamentalism.
