Takayama Ukon – a Christian Daimyo, His Activities and Contribution to Japan Christianization

Abstract
The service of Takayama Ukon, a Christian daimyo, is analyzed. His life is used as an example of  “a perfect Japanese Christian”. The prospects of Christianity spread in XVI–XVII centuries in Japan are considered. The author comes to a conclusion that if it were not for a political factor Christianity would have good chances to become main religion of Japan.
