Abstract
Article analyzes the origin of phobias in general, and the origin of civilizational phobia in particular. Special attention is paid to the emergence and promotion of such a phobia as Russophobia, which has become manic in a number of countries over the course of a millennium. The article provides a logical justification for the civilizational snobbery that developed in Western civilization, which gave rise to the theory of racial exclusivity and superiority, which influenced the specific social and political development of this civilization, its history, culture, and its right to rule over other nations. The article shows how the theory of racism led to the justification of slavery and colonialism, the expansion and conquest of foreign territories, the imposition of one's own way of life and culture, and the violation of the sovereignty of all those who disagreed with the imposed rules. Numerous facts and examples of militant Russophobia carried out by Western civilization over the course of a millennium on the territory of Rus-Russia are presented. Special attention is paid to the exacerbation of Russophobia in the modern period, which is associated with Russia's harsh response to the West's sovereign, mental, and cultural-historical encroachments, which have provoked a military conflict between Ukraine and Russia.
