Abstract
It is shown that national interests are the fundamental elements of the foreign policy course of any state, which is the basis for the geopolitical design of the country in the international arena. The article explores the understanding that the national interests of the Russian Federation shape the strategic culture and practice of foreign policy. The theoretical significance of the concept of the territory of a geographical security zone and relict borders for the Russian strategic culture is substantiated. The importance of the phenomenon of protection of space and borders in the Russian strategic culture, the importance of protection of space and borders for the geopolitical status of Russia is revealed. The point of view of domestic and Western researchers on the formative role of national security protection in the Russian strategic culture is considered. It is revealed that the Foreign Policy Concept of 2023 and other doctrinal documents of the strategic planning of the Russian Federation express the postulates of Russia's national strategic culture for the protection of space and borders as a determinant of the concept of national defense. It is proved that the practice of Russian foreign policy is an expression of the ideological components of the national strategic culture of the Russian Federation. The article considers the features of Russia's vision of the world order, such as the protection of the sovereignty of the territory and cultural and value-based living space, collective global governance, and a fair system of international relations.
