Patriotic Themes of Non-Parliamentary Parties’ Discourse in Contemporary Russia

Abstract
The article analyzes the peculiarities of interpretation of patriotic themes by domestic nonparliamentary parties of different political spectrum. The main lines of its representation and substantive parameters in line with the current national agenda are revealed. It is shown that there are quite pronounced ideological accents in the party interpretations of patriotism, corresponding to the program guidelines. At the same time, some similar features are emphasized, as well as attention to its “sovereignist” and “civilizational” versions, and combinations of their elements. The position of the liberal parties is recognized as the least clear and detailed. The article considers specific cases of representation of patriotic issues by the Political Party “Russian Party of Pensioners for Social Justice”, the Communist Party “COMMUNISTS of RUSSIA”, the Russian United Democratic Party “Yabloko”. The degree of activity of the patriotic electoral rhetoric at the present stage is assessed. Its articulation by the first two named parties is noted. Conclusions are drawn about the lack of conceptualization of the party's patriotic discourse in general and the prospects for improving the political positions of individual non-parliamentary parties within the framework of the new Duma campaign. Appeals to patriotism in this context can be interpreted as a rather significant tool of the election campaign, but to a greater extent for a partial change in the situation on the left flank.
