Influence of Digital Technologies on Political Institutions and Processes in Modern Russia

Author(s)

Abstract
The article examines the impact of digital technologies on political institutions and processes in Russia. Special attention is given to the digital transformation of political life, including the electoral process, government interaction with citizens through social networks, and the development of e-government. Both the positive effects of digitalization, such as increased transparency in governance and expanded civic participation, and potential risks, including the threat of public opinion manipulation, the spread of disinformation, and cybersecurity challenges, are analyzed. The role of artificial intelligence in politics is considered, including its potential for analyzing public sentiment, shaping election campaign strategies, and its possible threats, such as the monopolization of the information space and the virtualization of political participation. Particular attention is paid to social networks as a tool for political communication and the use of digital technologies in electoral procedures, including remote electronic voting. The article emphasizes the need for the development of a regulatory framework and public oversight mechanisms to ensure the effective and secure implementation of digital technologies in Russia’s political sphere.
