Abstract
The article grounds the necessity to restudy W.S. Woytinsky’s (1885–1960) economic science heritage, relevance of special focused research of his Siberian period intellectual activity. The attachment – published study «Social Works as Means of Labor Aid to Refugees» (1916) adds new features to his scientific resume of the pre-emigration period. The work identifies the beginning of the way leading away from economic theory to empirical studies.
