Abstract
The history of origin, special aspects of development and activity of the religious organization named Jehovah’s Witnesses in Transbaikalia during the Soviet period is considered in details. The authors analyze historical works and data received while interviewing members of the organization. The paper reflects those mythological images created around Jehovah’s Witnesses in Transbaikalia, both by Jehovah’s witnesses themselves, and by people about them. The authors come to a conclusion that by using mythological designs this religious organization not only successfully developed in the conditions of persecutions in the territory of Transbaikalia, but also managed to use the given situation to extend influence of their dogma on the remote territories.
