Abstract
Attitude to the concept of patriotism in various groups of the Russian society is rather contradictory. It is believed that it is being replaced by cosmopolitanism with its “homeland is a place where you feel good” principle. Our cross-cultural study in four countries (China, Mongolia, Russia, France) showed that such views are a priority only in France. In Asian countries the concepts of universal characteristics of homo globalis are not in demand, moreover, they produce antagonistic reaction. Russian multi-ethnic regions have long established domestic multiculturalism, which is congruent with patriotism and inter-ethnic consent of different nations as recognition of ethnic groups uniqueness. In the Asia-Pacific region with its special conditions and mentality love of country is inherent to most people. The results of cross-cultural research confirming these tendencies are given.
