Churches and Religious Organizations: Participation in the European Integration Process

Abstract
The article is devoted to the study of relations of the European Union with the representatives of churches and religious organizations of the European Union countries. The development of relationships among various denominations and religious organizations in the European integration process is considered. The article analyzes the contradictions that arose during discussion of the European Constitution draft among the secular authority, Churches and religious and non-confessional organizations. Compromise concerning covering the value of Christianity for the European culture in the documents is shown. The attitude of the authorities of the EU institutions to religious sects is analyzed. It is noted that churches and religious organizations continue to be active and participate in the social processes of the countries in the Old World, which make their positions clear on a wide range of acute social and political problems.
