Abstract

The paper describes the principles of Russia’s religious policy in the Baikal region of the Imperial period on the basis of the archival materials. The paper infers the correlation between Russian geopolitical expansion to the Far East and the confessionalian policy towards the Central Asian form of Buddhism.
