Abstract

The article concerns one of the controversial issues in the Russian Church history in the Early 20th Century, the Renovation movement in Russian Orthodoxy. The author analyzes whether Russian Orthodox Renovationism was an original phenomenon or just an echo of developments that took place in the Western Christianity at that time. Besides, the research erases an important theoretical and methodological problem, determining the position of the Russian Orthodox Renovationism between religious modernism and religious fundamentalism.
