Renovationism in Russian Orthodoxy in 1922-1923: Reformation or Religious Revolution?

Author(s)
D. A. Golovushkin
Abstract

The paper considers whether the Russian Orthodox Renovationism in 1922 -1923 represented a reformation movement or a church revolution. The analysis of organizational and ideological development of the Renovation movement at that time shows that the Renovationism indeed contained a number of fundamental contradictions, so the researchers have reasons to evaluate it differently. However, the structural-functional analysis, applied in this study, allowed to find an integrative approach to comprehension of this phenomenon.
