The paper focuses on the activity of a renowned in the region talented writer, critic, literary man, cultural figure and statesman – Isaak Grigoryevich Goldberg. The author presents Goldberg’s main biographical details. His prerevolutionary social and political literary views have been briefly highlighted. Special attention is paid to a revolutionary aspect of Goldberg’s literary activity and events after the revolution influencing his becoming a publicist. Due regard is given to previously unknown facts of Goldberg’s activity at the beginning of “Great Terror” period found in rare archive materials.
