Theological Foundations of Fundamentalism in Contemporary Islam

Abstract

This article offers the author's conception of Islamic fundamentalism, religious extremism and such an ambiguous phenomenon of Islamic theology as «salafism». The author highlights and gives short characteristics for two main courses, existing in contemporary Islamic fundamentalism – theological and political movements on the example of the views of Abu Yahiya the Crimean, and ideology of «Hizb ut-Tahrir».
