Abstract
The article describes the activity of the Irkutsk branch of the State Bank of Russia during tough period in 1917. The impact of the political changes that took place after the February and October revolutions on the situation in the banking sector of Irkutsk is noted. Special attention is paid to the events of the December confrontation between the Bolsheviks and the Provisional Government authorities, which led to destruction of the bank building.
