Irkutsk Saint Mary Community of Sisters of Mercy during the Revolution and Civil War in Russia (1917–1920)

Abstract
The article is based on the rich body of archival material and highlights the work of the Saint Mary Community of sisters of mercyduring the revolutionary years and during the Civil war in Russia for the first time. Great attention is paid to lending aid to sick and wounded soldiers. The fate of some nurses is described. Changes in the community that took place during frequent power shifts in the course of the Civil war are considered.
