The author has attempted to make sense of some criteria of advantage of geopotilical position and to represent them mathematically as a ratio of geopolitical power of a subject to summarized geopolitical power of the subjects having the greatest influence on the subject under consideration. One of the critical criteria is availability of «natural political borders”, i.e. the degree of coincidence of political borders with natural ones. A new method of quantitative assessment of the degree of naturality of political borders tried out on the case of Russia is proposed.
