Deglobalization and Resovereignization: a Double Megatrend of the 2010s

Author(s)
S. F. Schmidt
Abstract

This is an overview of the recent deglobalization tendencies in the world economy and politics. The article analyzes heuristic value and usefulness of the “deglobalization” and “resovereignization” concepts for modern science. Main tasks necessary for studying the phenomenon of deglobalization have been defined. The author proposed a list of five features that are unique to deglobalization nowadays. In the conclusion the author hypothesized about the cyclical nature of globalization and deglobalization waves and speculated that the globalization of a new kind is inevitably going to replace the trend of deglobalization in the future.
