The author analyzed transformation of the national environmental policy from a historical viewpoint and considered the features of environmental management, economic, legal and informational aspects of the problems of the up-to-date environmental conditions. The author revealed low priority of this segment in the Russian politics at the moment, which causes negative social consequences. The author proved the necessity of transition to a «green economy» as an important element of social and economic development of the country.
